How To Draw

the Straight (A4Hoker-54*-3£)) unless you're sure you must beat Trips.

(6) Draw two to Three-of-a-kind unless you have a specific reason to draw one. You may keep a kicker to disguise your hand or because certain cards have been exposed and you're keeping a "live" card. If you do keep a kicker, the Ace is usually the best. Chances of making a Full House or Four-of-a-kind are just as good keeping an Ace kicker as drawing two, in fact, slightly better. However, your chances of making Four-of-a-kind exactly are only half as good. If, for strategic reasons, you decide to keep a kicker other than an Ace, keep the lower card since your opponents are more likely to be using higher cards in their hands.

  • 7) If you have a choice of drawing one card to either a Country Straight or to a Flush, draw to the Flush. If the choice is between a 12-way Straight and a Flush, the 12-way is usually better.
  • 8) In general, do not split Two-Pair and draw three. If you have called an Opener who draws one, your best bet is to draw one also, even though he probably has your small Two-Pair bettered. The reason is: There is a high enough probability of him having Ace-Joker with a Straight or Flush combination and you'll have him beat or that he's disguising big Trips and you'll need a Full House. If you know that your opponent has 3-Sixes, then you should split Two (small) Pair of, say, Sevens and Threes and draw to the Pair of Sevens.

You should usually draw one card to this hand, discarding the 7<f>:

If you hold this hand, your best chance of improvement is to draw three to the Ace-Joker, but against Trips, draw one to the Straight:

If this is your hand, drawing two and discarding the 3Z>-9Jf> will give you the best chance to improve. Against

Here you should usually draw two, but if you keep a kicker for strategic reasons, the Three (smaller card) is better:
